Art House Productions Announces Art House Cares: COVID Relief Grants for Hudson County Artists from Marginalized Communities
Art House Productions is pleased to announce applications for the Art House Cares: COVID Relief Grants for Hudson County Artists from Marginalized Communities are now open. This program will support local artists and provide opportunities for Hudson County residents to engage with cultural programming this summer and fall. This grant program is made possible by support from New Jersey Arts and Culture Renewal Fund at the Princeton Area Community Foundation. The application deadline is Friday, June 10 at 11:59pm ET.
This grant will support Hudson County-based working artists and cultural workers who have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19. Hudson County-based artists and teaching artists from marginalized communities, including racial, religious, and ethnic minorities; cisgender and transgender women; gender diverse and nonconforming people; people with disabilities; and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, working in any discipline are eligible to apply. The program will distribute one-time $5,000 grants to 10 local artists to help sustain their practice and engage the public across Hudson County between July 1 - December 1, 2022.
"Art House is proud to partner with the New Jersey Arts and Culture Renewal Fund to support this program that will help the resurgence of Hudson County’s creative community,” says Producing Director Courtney Little. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, Hudson County artists have been left unemployed and without venues to present their work. While some pivoted to digital presentations, sales of visual art and ticket sales decreased significantly, making it nearly impossible for local artists to maintain their artistic careers, let alone progress in their fields. Data has revealed that this disruption has disproportionately affected Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (BIPOC), as well as artists with disabilities and womxn. This grant will empower those artists to restart their careers after this extended hiatus, while trusting them with the freedom to work on whatever creative project they choose.”
