The Development Director at Art House will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic plans to raise funds for an organization cost-effectively and time-efficiently. Duties include overseeing and managing fundraising efforts, building strong and successful relationships, maintaining communications with donors and patrons and collaborating with staff to effectively execute fundraising events.The Development Director reports to the Executive Director and Board of Directors and works as part of Art House’s team.
The ideal candidate has experience in fundraising, audience development, donor cultivation, and has great organizational, communication, and computer skills. The Development Director must have experience creating and running financial reports.
The Development Director is a full-time position. The position is currently remote due to COVID-19, but will continue in-person at our office in Jersey City when safe. The position will have flexibility to work from home for certain projects. Flexible PTO. The salary for this position begins at $48,000. Development Director at Art House
Art House is currently seeking a Development Director to oversee our capital campaign for our new multi arts space scheduled to open in 2021 at 184 Morgan Street in downtown Jersey City, donor relations program, and manage our fundraising initiatives. A successful candidate will be responsible for developing our nonprofit’s fundraising campaigns, communicating with current and prospective donors, and building a development committee for the organization. This position involves managing individual and corporate gifts as well as planned and annual giving campaigns. Development Director responsibilities:
- Oversee Art House’s Capital Campaign
- Develop and oversee, with help from Executive Director, annual fundraising program which includes 2 major fundraising events and multiple ongoing grants
- Responsible for keeping the fundraising calendar and schedule for recording prospects
- Responsible for database management/data entry
- Responsible for submitting grants, mid-grant, and post grant reports
- Identify prospective individual and corporate donors and develop strategies to cultivate those relationships
- Develop and execute stewardship plans with private and corporate donors
- Research donor relation programs at local, state and federal art institutions
- Ensure timely and accurate report deliveries to funders
- Collaborate with staff on the management and planning of fundraising events and donor receptions
Ideal Development Director skills:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years' fundraising experience
- Foundation relationship and grant writing experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Google Suite, and Apple products
- Excellent written, interpersonal and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with Audience View Professional/OvationTix or other CRM database a plus
- A passion for the arts in a diverse community

VIRTUAL ARTS ADMINISTRATION INTERNSHIPS
Art House seeks a remote intern with an interest in pursuing a career in performing & visual arts. Internships are intended for college students and/or students taking a gap year. Our internships are a great opportunity to develop new skills and gain credible experience working with a tight-knit team that outwardly serves the Jersey City arts scene.
Art House believes that a team with diverse experiences and backgrounds generates richer discussions and more nuanced thinking, and strives to be an inclusive workplace where everyone feels welcome and respected. We encourage applications from those whose identities reflect the diversity of the community whom we seek to serve, and whose identities are traditionally underrepresented in nonprofit and/or arts management.
Candidates must be 18 years old. Candidates should be available 10 hours per week, for at least 8 consecutive weeks in Spring 2020. Candidates will work remotely, so can be located anywhere in the US. Preference will be given to Jersey City-based applicants.
Interns are compensated with a $200 stipend and academic credit at the discretion of the sponsoring college. Interns will receive an ethernet cable and necessary office supplies.
Virtual Arts Administration Internship
Provides the opportunity to contribute to the day-to-day producing activities of a multidisciplinary arts center, and learn about the planning and producing of virtual theater, presented events, dance, festivals, art gallery, and special events. Interns will get weekly educational seminars with industry professionals and sit in on staff meetings. Interns assist with marketing, social media, mailing list maintenance, patron services, and audience outreach. Interns may serve as technical assistance for virtual events, and assist with general office duties including filing, and data entry. Strong interest in performing and visual arts administration is required. Prior experience in an office or customer service work environment preferred. Reports to the Executive Director & Producing Director.
