Art House Productions seeks an Associate Executive Director (AED) to become part of the leadership team. The AED will manage operations for the organization and produce all major Art House programs alongside the gallery director, associate producer, and executive artistic director. The Associate Executive Director will help guide multi-year artistic, administrative and financial planning for the organization. The AED will support the annual activity of Art House’s artistic, cultural, and community commitments as the organization opens its new 99-seat black box theater, visual arts gallery, and office space at 345 Marin Boulevard in downtown Jersey City in the Spring of 2023. The position reports to the Executive Artistic Director. 

Overview:

  • The Associate Executive Director is a full-time position
  • The position is in-person with some opportunity to WFH one or two days a week depending on production/exhibition/performance needs
  • The applicant must be based within commuting distance of Jersey City. Drivers license and access to a car is a plus 
  • The salary range is $60,000 - $65,000
  • 2 weeks paid vacation and flexible PTO
  • The organization is closed from Dec 24 - Jan 2 each year
  • 401K with employer match benefits
  • $500 annual budget for professional development

Responsibilities:

Operations/Programming:

  • Oversee and Implement contracts, permits, licenses, ADA compliance, and other operational policies/activities
  • Attend board & executive committee meetings
  • Support and advise in the season planning process
  • Will supervise technical manager, associate producer, and other staff in collaboration with Executive Artistic Director. 
  • Manage communication with artists, internal departments, and other stakeholders to support calendaring and budgeting
  • Produce and evaluate programs including the Art House Theater, JC Fridays, the Jersey City Comedy Festival, the INKubator New Play Program, the Art House Gallery, and education programs and other new programs at the new space

Development:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees to research prospective funders, write grant proposals, craft fundraising appeals, and manage the donor database.
  • Assists in organizing and promoting annual campaigns and fundraising events such as Hudson Gives, Snow Ball, and Le Diner en Blanc - Jersey City.
  • Develop and maintain development/fundraising calendar and plans for the Executive Artistic Director, Board of Trustees, and Development Consultants to cultivate donor relationships.

Marketing/Outreach:

  • Oversee marketing and audience development strategies with support from Associate Producer
  • Oversee graphics, e-blast, and press release with support from associate producer
Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of professional arts administration experience (internships, related graduate school study, and work-study positions included)
  • Strong commitment to Art House’s mission and values
  • Excellent writing, research, and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive and goal oriented
  • Enthusiastic about working collaboratively with a small team
  • Experience with Google Drive Suite, and all social media platforms  
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • A passion for the arts in a diverse community
  • Flexibility to work evening and weekend hours as required

Art House seeks a Technical Manager for our new, 99-seat black box theater, visual arts gallery, and office space at 345 Marin Boulevard in downtown Jersey City. The Technical Manager is responsible for supervising all production, facilities, and technical elements for programs and rentals at Art House Productions. The position reports to the Executive Director and supports the full breadth of Art House’s artistic, cultural, and community commitments as we open our new performing and visual arts center scheduled to be fully operational by the Spring of 2023.

Overview:

  • The Technical Manager is a full-time position.
  • The position is in-person
  • The applicant must be based within commuting distance of Jersey City. Drivers license and access to a car is a plus. 
  • The salary range is $47,000 - $55,000
  • 2 weeks paid vacation and flexible PTO
  • Organization is closed between December 24 and January 2nd
  • 401K with employer match benefits
  • $500 annual budget for professional development
  • Health benefits as of Spring/Summer 2023
Responsibilities:
  • Oversees and coordinates the staging of lighting, sound, video, and other equipment and assets, as required for individual performances.
  • Trains and supervises all outside event/production personnel in technical and safety procedures for theater, and equipment.
  • Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems; participates in professional development activities as appropriate.
  • Maintains inventories of relevant materials and equipment throughout entire space; identifies and assesses inventory requirements, and makes and/or recommends purchases and maintenance as appropriate.
  • Serves as Building Supervisor after normal hours of operation, or during assigned productions and rental events
  • Maintains calendar of events and schedules tours and fields rental and production inquiries.
  • Ensures communication between various departments within the organization.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned, e,g; assists with technical aspects of fundraising events off-site.

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge/familiarity with ADA and OSHA compliance)
  • Collaborative attitude
  • Heavy-lifting abilities (upwards of 50 lbs)
  • Competent, working knowledge of theatrical equipment, design tools and software.
  • Organized, and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • A passion for the arts in a diverse community
  • Evening and weekend hours are required
