Art House salutes the service industry in upcoming story slam

Art House Productions is calling all current and former waiters, housekeepers, hosts, dishwashers, and delivery drivers to share tales from their often thankless jobs as Art House celebrates and says thank you in their upcoming Virtual Story Slam on Thursday, May 14, at 7 p.m.

Each week, Art House presents five storytellers who share their own personal stories based on a weekly theme. This week’s theme is “Salute to the Service Industry.”

Advance registration is required to receive the Zoom link by going to https://bit.ly/3cae5EX. Creating an account and admission is free. Suggested donations are $5.

The virtual event will be co-hosted by Art House Productions and No Dominion Theatre Co. The new virtual Story Slam series celebrates live storytelling, resilience of the arts, and human connection during tough times.

To sign up as a storyteller, email nodominiontheatre@gmail.com no later than May 12 at 5 p.m. with a brief synopsis of your story. Anyone is welcome to participate, no prior experience necessary. Stories should be around 5 to 8 minutes in length, must be true, and no standup routines or crude language.

Zoom can be accessed online via a computer or mobile device with a wifi connection. To download Zoom and create an account on a desktop, go to https://zoom.us and follow the onsite instructions. For a smartphone/mobile device, download the Zoom app from the AppStore and follow the setup instructions.
