Each year, Art House Productions commissions, develops, and presents a new play that explores an important, exciting, relevant, yet little-known part of Hudson County's history. This year we are pleased to present Exile and Elysian Fields by Iraisa Ann Reilly.
This play focuses on the first officially recorded baseball game in the United States which was played in Hoboken, NJ in 1846, intertwined with the story of the Havana Sugar Kings, a minor league baseball team from Cuba that was abruptly moved to Jersey City during the Cuban Revolution in 1960. The play celebrates Hudson County’s place in baseball history and explores themes of immigration and asylum-seeking in the area.
Tickets to this reading are free, RSVP is required.
