The 2nd Annual Black Authors’ Showcase, hosted by the Sigma Chi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., is an engaging celebration of Black voices, storytelling, and cultural impact. This community-centered event brings together accomplished Black authors for an afternoon of live readings, a moderated Q&A, and book signings, creating space for meaningful dialogue around identity, wellness, justice, resilience, and personal transformation. Open to the public, the showcase invites readers, creatives, and community members to connect, be inspired, and celebrate the power of literature to educate, uplift, and empower.


The Sigma Chi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, also known as the “Jersey City Alphas”, . is a distinguished body of college-educated men committed to leadership, service, and advocacy. Rooted in the fraternity’s historic mission of “Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for All Mankind,” the chapter serves as a powerful force for positive change throughout Jersey City and the surrounding communities.

Through programs focused on education, civic engagement, youth mentorship, economic empowerment, and community uplift, the Jersey City Alphas endeavor to create lasting impact. From scholarship initiatives and voter engagement, to health awareness and cultural enrichment, the chapter is dedicated to building stronger, more informed, and more equitable communities.

The Jersey City Alphas believe that true leadership is demonstrated through service. By partnering with local organizations, schools, and community leaders, the chapter continues to honor Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated’s legacy as the nation’s first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity founded by African American men—while shaping a future rooted in opportunity, empowerment, and collective progress.
