Le Dîner En Blanc To Return To Jersey City August 17th
Dress In White And Dine At A Secret Outdoor Location
JERSEY CITY, NJ- The Parisian-inspired urban picnic characterized by its famous all-white dress code will take place return to Jersey City on August 17.
"Le Dîner En Blanc" is hosted by Art House Productions Inc., a local non-profit whose mission it is to "inspire, entertain, and challenge audiences with ambitious performing and visual arts programming; provide arts education to promote lifelong learning to diverse communities; and celebrate the power of the arts to illuminate humanity."
In an interview with TAPinto Jersey City, Executive Artistic Director of the non-profit Meredith Burns confirmed the event would return with hopes to build on the success after the first inaugural dinner in 2022.
"This is our second year doing it," Burns told TAPinto Jersey City. "It's actually a pretty involved process to be granted the designation from Le Dîner En Blanc International."
According to Burns, it is not necessarily an easy task getting in touch with the parent organization of the event, Le Dîner En Blanc International based out of Montreal, Quebec. She said that was only the beginning of the lengthy process, which eventually proved fruitful for the non-profit.
"That's the first hoop you have to jump through," Burns said jokingly. "Then you have to fill out a rather extensive application. Then you have to actually take a test and you're rated on that test. Based on that rating, you are given a green light to present the event."
Burns said that Art House Productions chose to start hosting Le Dîner En Blanc in Jersey City at the tail end of the COVID-19 pandemic. She said the non-profit still did not occupy a physical space at the time after three years due to the pandemic itself and the delays it caused on construction of their new location. However, they eventually successfully moved into their new performing and visual arts center earlier this year located in The Hendrix at 180 Morgan Street in Jersey City.
