Independent film to have only NJ screening at Art House
Art House will host the second of three screenings for the independent New Jersey film “Bottom Feeders” on Friday, Jan. 3, at 7:30 p.m.
The exclusive screening will feature the film’s cast and filmmakers and the event will also be the only screening taking place in New Jersey.
Set during an extreme winter in Northeastern Pennsylvania, “Bottom Feeders” follows Dmitri, a 20-year-old sex addict who squats in an abandoned garage with his mentally ill father while shamelessly using the kindness of an old friend who’s returned home for Christmas as a means of escape and pleasure.
The film takes a look at the effects of destructive pleasure while also examining sex addiction, poverty and mental illness. “Bottom Feeders” also uses a cast of first-time actors.
The film screened as an official selection at the Kansas City Underground Film Festival, Torino Underground Cinefest and the Melbourne Underground Film Festival.
Following the screening at Art House, a live Q&A and podcast with the cast and filmmakers will take place, moderated by Parth Marathe and Trent Algayer of the Craft Services podcast. Craft Services has been running for almost five years and has aired over 200 episodes discussing new movies each week. All episodes can be found on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
