Support Art House during #HudsonGives on May 14
Dear Friends,
I'm writing to let you know Art House will be taking part in Hudson Gives on May 14th, 2020 and will seek to raise $20,000. Similar to Giving Tuesday, Hudson Gives is a "day of giving” to support participating non-profits in Hudson County, NJ.
The arts in Hudson County are facing an existential crisis. For the past twenty years, Art House has been Jersey City’s home for the performing and visual arts inspiring, entertaining, and challenging Hudson County audiences with quality programming for families, people with disabilities, and arts lovers of all ages. Hudson Gives is a crucial fundraising effort for Art House as we manage the COVID-19 health and economic crisis.
Here’s why you should support us on May 14th:
- We contract 1000+ artists every year. Without Art House, there will be a dearth of professional opportunities for artists. That scenario is not good for the culture and vibrancy of Hudson County, and it’s not good for the economy. The arts sector in Jersey City alone, contributes to more than $7 million dollars in spending in our region.
- We provide free arts education to approximately 500 students in after-school programs and through the Jersey City Summer Fun Program.
- We bring in over 3500 audience members to our on-site programs and serve 15,000 people annually through JC Fridays.
Every dollar you give during Hudson Gives goes toward helping continue our online arts programs, which are providing significant support to a Hudson County arts scene devastated by coronavirus. Just this past Friday, a COVID-19 survivor won Art House’s Drag Bingo. I hope you and your family are staying healthy and in good spirits. I'm looking forward to seeing you in person at an arts event on the other side of this.
Yours,
Meredith Burns
