4 to be honored with NJCU Leadership Awards
Four people who have left their mark on Jersey City will be honored with New Jersey City University Leadership Awards, university officials announced.
The awards for former Rep. Frank Guarini, arts advocate Meredith Burns, health care leader Joseph Scott and former Mayor Glenn D. Cunningham will be presented at an NJCU Foundation celebration at Liberty House in Jersey City on June 6.
The Leadership Awards were created to honor, promote and encourage exemplary efforts by individuals and organizations who have made and continue to make exemplary contributions to Jersey City.
Burns, executive director of Art House Productions, will receive the Arts Award. Guarini, the long-time congressman and philanthropist, will receive the Service Award.
Scott, executive vice president for health care transformation at RWJBarnabas Health and the former president and CEO of Jersey City Medical Center, will receive the Innovation Award. Cunningham, who was mayor of Jersey City from 2001 to 2004 and who died in office, will receive the Legacy Award.
