ABOUT THE DIRECTORS
Kit Vogelsang (Director) studied Theatre and Performance at Bretton Hall (University of Leeds) during which time she began working with the Bradford Youth Players (BYP). She continued directing their annual productions and running weekly workshops with them while she began undertaking her Masters Degree in Performance Studies; which she also completed at The University of Leeds. She continues to perform professionally both onstage and behind the scenes and is very pleased to be working with Art House Productions and the youth of the Jersey City area.
For the past year Devra worked as the musical director for the childrens' program of the John W. Engeman theater in Northport, Long Island where she collaborated on four productions including 'How to Eat Like a Child', 'Dear Edwina, Jr.', 'Shout' and '13'. In addition she co-taught a Glee class. This fall she will join the SAR Academy in Riverdale as musical director and accompanist for their elementary school. She will also be the musical director for 'Stages', a new and upcoming childrens' theater program in Jersey City. Devra is also a singer and actor and was recently featured in a musical review production with FSF in Queens. She is currently playing the role of Betty in a 60's musical for the Stravelli Players in Brooklyn. She is also a cabaret singer and recently sang in one of Seth Bisen-Hershs' showcases at Don't Tell Mama in Manhattan. This summer Devra accompanied and worked with Sandra Joseph, Broadway's Christine in The Phantom of the Opera, at the Omega Institue in Rhineback, N.Y. Favorite roles for Devra have included Louisa in The Sound of Music, Lucy in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, understudying Ado Annie in Oklahoma, and Peter Pan in a musical review. Devra also studies tap with Corrie Cooper at Cap 21 and voice with Christine Riley, musical director in residence at Marymont College. Devra received her Bachelors degree from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and her Masters from the Manhattan School of Music. In both schools she was a piano performance major. One of the highlights of Devra's career was her participation in the International Summer Master Classes in Alushta, Ukraine where she was chosen to perform for a televised concert. She is also a passionate chamber musician. Devra is so excited to be joining the wonderful team of 'Stages' this Fall
