What inspired this production?
This production was and is inspired by the idea of applying new and contemporary forms of storytelling to material that is accessible. Also the fact that no other story has been turned in as many films. There are over 70. This work for the two screen generation, ie, people who like to watch TV with there phones so they can look up info on Wikipedia while watching the movie.
How do you think A Christmas Carol resonates today?
It truly is a timeless story, which will always find resonance with people as long as economics and class divide humanity.
"I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round... as a good time: a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time: the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys." - Scrooge's nephew Fred says this
What do you want audiences to take away from the production?
I'd think the audience will walk away with nostalgia of growing up with this timeless story. Seeing, remembering and guessing if they saw all of the versions show in the work.  Also it's wonderful to see an interpretation from 1935 placed directly next to one from 1988. And to see Thomas Edison's silent film played as coda to each scene.
Why are the arts important to you?
They keep me remind me of the importance of the the complexity of life, the value in diversity in thought and experience and the unifying experience of being together seeing or hearing the same thing.
What's your favorite holiday tradition?
Trimming the tree with my two boys.
What's your favorite film version of A Christmas Carol?
Scrooged with Bill Murray (1988) & Seymour Hicks' A Christmas Carol (1935).
